Messianic Judaism - The Basics
If you're just starting out with learning about Messianic Judaism, then allow me to help you along the journey. For my online pressense primarily, I go by my Christian name Obadyah...which in Hebrew translates to "Servant of YAH". YAH is the only true authority I recognize, as all men (which includes women) are liars. That said, I aim to follow the 10 commandments strictly, and as such, I do a fair amount of research into what I say to ensure that I say it correctly; as to do otherwise would be bearing false witness (which is against one of the commandments).
Under Legal Defense (Religious Freedom - Asserting my Rights), I did for nearly the first time ever try to utilize my Christian name in my interaction with the police in regards to a minor traffic infraction. Why? Because in true Christian fashion, any law that is not YAHWEH's laws is blasphemy, and given my minor infraction caused no harm to anybody nor their property; by trying to assert the traffic statute, the state (city police in this case) were trying to force me to commit blasphemy...which is a violation of the 1st amendment of the US Constitution, as well as Article 1 Section 3 of the NYS Constitution. I'd recommend going to that portion of the site for more details, as I was more than merely trying to assert my Christian name. YAHWEH's people are waking up, and it's time for us to not only have Faith in YAHWEH, and Hope that people will begin to understand, but most prominently; Love. Love is action, and not mere sentiment.
If you search online, you may find a multitude of different denominations of Messianic Jews...some use different names, follow different Holy Days, etc...much like most of Modern Christianity. Why then would I be any different? The truth is that I'm ultimately not any better than the majority in the eyes of YAH, although, as the true mark of a true Christian...I'm always humble and willing to change to do the will of my Father. I don't know everything, nor have I ever claimed to know everything; however I can assure you that I don't promote myself, will allow anybody to challenge what I say if I say anything inaccurate, but will ignore anybody that can't support their position. That said, the focal point that I posture as being the truth is strict adherence to the 10 commandments, while others may focus on the 613 mitzvah (commandments) which the Orthodox Jews follow; however, in following them, you will not be following YahShua.
YahShua is the way, the truth, and the light...no man shall come to the father but by him. That said, let me start with the 10 commandments,
