The 10 Commandments
The core principle of the Bible is to be obedient to YAHWEH and all of his commandments; which is the purpose of the church. Knowing that people in and of themselves are imperfect, it's the purpose of the church to teach the saints how to purify their hearts and lead by example through love, rather than hate. Love in modern times, just as it has been historically, is focused primarily on the sentimental aspect rather than focusing in on actions. Biblical Love is loving thy neighbor as thyself, as well as YAHWEH thy Elohiym.
Most people, hearing about the 10 commandments, don't actually follow the 10 commandments. They've become complacent in their lives, and don't strive to change themselves...preferring their families or to obtain their various objectives rather than follow the purity of love that YAHWEH has for us, and wants us to have for each other as well as him.
That said, you can find the 10 commandments in the following locations in the Bible:
Exodus Chapter 20:1-17
Deuteronomy Chapter 5:6-21

That said; let's break them down.
1.) No other gods before me
No other gods before me is a difficult one to perfect in today's society, regardless of what part of the globe you reside. To put that into perspective, reflect on the Gregarian Calendar which is a derivative of the Julian Calendar; both of which are riddled with idolatry (utilizing names of other deities), no different than the Modern Hebrew Calendar (Orthodox Jewish Calendar) which likewise names one of the names of their months after Tammuz from Babylon.
